‘Elevation’ consists of 8 self-contained luxury apartments on a steep site at the east end of the ‘Old Village’.
The starting point in designing this private development was to review to the design guidelines for this part of the Village, and this determined the building envelope, which with the development objectives and market conditions at the time set the brief parameters.
The steep site created many structural and planning challenges as each floor had a different footprint, small at the lowest level and largest at the street, but this also created architectural opportunities and together with the Thredbo material palette, resulted in a development which fits into the Thredbo urban language.
With two apartments per floor, each with onsite parking, the development is now a benchmark for five star apartment living with high quality finishes and fittings and spectacular views of the mountain. In addition, the building had the first lift in the Village. The twin curved copper clad walls on Bobuck Lane and strong granite base with carefully crafted cladding provides a highly resolved and very distinctive yet balanced form.
