This project completed the 6 year redevelopment of Thredbo’s Village core, involving the pedestrianisation of Mowamba Place, streetscape enhancement and creation of a new Town Square. The purpose of the work was to define a Central Place for residents and visitors, integrating retail, accommodation and resort amenities whilst also resolving a range of vehicular and pedestrian circulation issues.
New heated and patterned paving to the street is aligned on the same axis as the Crackenback Chairlift. Other features include extensive use of natural stone walling, granite setts, heavy timbers, and a consistent approach to street furniture, signage, lighting and colours.
The completion of this work adds a new dimension to skiing in Kosciusko National Park and heightens the village’s unique Alpine Resort atmosphere.
