UTS has progressively refurbished the iconic tower building on Broadway to provide a contemporary workplace for administrative and allied functions of the University. This project involved refurbishing three levels to create a workplace for the Human Resources and Financial Services Units on floors 23 and 24 and an all staff training facility on level 22. Each Department occupies a single floor with approx. 60-70 work points in an open plan arrangement. The training floor provides collaborative spaces including a breakout, training rooms and reception facility shared by all occupants of the tower.
The design intent reinforces the context of UTS as an urban university, part of the fabric of the Sydney CBD. The finishes and furniture have been developed based upon a relatively neutral colour palette with occasional highlights of colour. Graphic patterns and upholsteries are inspired by mapping the city and external materials such as concrete and sandstone. Green walls bring the outdoor into the fitout and artwork for wall panelling on the typical floors is based upon maps of the Sydney CBD.
