Following DJRD’s completion of a master plan for the redevelopment of the Depot in 2006, the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney commissioned the construction of stage 1 of the works.

The new facilities included: a pathology laboratory building, the adaptive reuse of two historic buildings to contain offices and meeting rooms, the construction of extensive storage and maintenance facilities, new staff facilities, and the conservation of four historic glass houses including the installation of modern shading and climatic control systems.
